Club And Activities

The YRC is the most important constituent of its mother organization, Indian Red cross. It is a student moment; YRC in our institutions was established as per the orders of the Tamil Nadu government and Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University. In our College of Education various programes will be conducted for fulfill the following objectives.

The Red Ribbon Club of the college plays a major role in awareness programmes on AIDS and important issues. It also aims in building their capacities as peer male / women educators in spreading messages on positive health behavior in an enabling environment and increasing voluntary blood donation from among youth male/women student teachers. The Student teachers (Volunteers) regularly donate blood in response to calls from hospitals in and around Erode. Members of the RRC initiated the formation of a blood bank to meet emergency requirements of the society.

The term fine arts refers to an art form practised mainly for its aesthetic value and its beauty rather than its functional value. Fine art is rooted in drawing and design-based works such as painting, printmaking, and sculpture. It is often contrasted with applied art and crafts which are both traditionally seen as utilitarian activities. Other non-design-based activities regarded as fine arts, include photography and architecture, although the latter is best understood as an applied art.

The Fine Arts Club of Mangalam College of Education, aims at promoting the creative process, whether it be in the form of paintings, oration, literacy quizzes, contest or visual arts. Our college of education provide ample opportunities for the student teachers to train and act drama.

Physical Education is an important and integral part of personality formation. We have always insisted on a healthy and competitive environment at our institution. We always keep a wide emphasis and sports and games activities. Having vast space in the campus, college preserves more than a hour every day evening for sports and games activities. Our college of education organized many tournaments and sports events in the previous years.

A well-equipped Art and Craft resource center is established in our institution because canvas is made to express the inner feelings of student teachers. All the facilities like as cutter, glazed papers, Velvet papers, handmade sheet, colors, clothes (tie and die), painting brush and all other facilities are available for B.Ed students.

SUPW may be described as purposive, meaning full, manual work resulting in either goods or services which are useful to the society. One of the essential curricular activities in B.Ed Curriculum is SUPW. It creates self sufficiency among student teachers by taking different programmes and different commodities. Our student teachers get work experience through preparing self made teaching aids in our institutions. Socially useful productive work (SUPW) of the department of Mangalam College of Education which is of a practical nature and undertaken under appropriate supervision and planning, will help to achieve positive attitudes to work in the students Identifying themselves with the community by rendering Social and Community Service Development of the habit of co-operative work. Making the community conscious of scientific advancements and help it develop a scientific outlook.

Educational Psychology

Psychologists working in this discipline, examine how people learn in a variety of settings, to identify approaches and strategies in order to make learning more effective.

Psychology Lab

The psychology laboratory is used for teaching, consultancy and research activities. It has a large collection of psychological tests and batteries. Availability of the psychology lab for student’s use is a privilege and it is treated as such in our College. Students are expected to utilize the facilities available according to their needs and carry out their responsibilities promptly with a good sense.
he educational system of today is a complicated one. There is just no one way, that could work for every student. This is why educational psychologists are focusing on identifying and learning new methodology, to understand people better and to help them retain information better as well.

Language Lab

The Mangalam College of Education is equipped with a fine language laboratory. Students can perceive the sounds of different phonetic symbols and hear them distinctly. It helps them develop their pronunciation, accent and intonation. The students can work at their own pace and can select the materials free. The faculty can listen to individual students without disturbing others. The faculty can communicate with the students and also control the programme at any time.

Computer Lab

he Computer has become the most amazing teaching tool ever invented. Hence Computer Education is a part of curriculum in Mangalam College of Education. Every student is provided with a computer with Internet accessibility. Moreover, the computer lab of Mangalam College of Education is spacious enough to accommodate 50 students at a time. That makes group computer education possible. To make themselves into effective and efficient persons at college and home, the future teachers are expected to avail themselves of the facilities offered at Mangalam College of Education
